Let’s be honest. We love new experiences, so we seek out friends because there’s more fun to be had with a group. And it’s also been proven that a little attention from someone else always makes us happy and stays with us for a long time. How about spicing up the fun with a little shared eroticism? The encyclopedia website Wikipedia really keeps up with the times. If you enter the query: “What is sexual assistance?”, it won’t let you down. Just about everyone knows that a blog is a web application containing posts by a single author. But do you know how the word came about? It’s a contraction of the two English words “web log”, which can be translated into Czech as “web log, notebook”. The term “weblog” was reportedly coined by a certain Jorn Barger in December 1997. However, the term seemed too long, so another internet wizard, Peter Merholz, shortened it to “blog”. Reportedly in April or May 1999, he split the word “weblog” into the phrase “we blog” in the navigation bar of his weblog. Another interesting fact is that “weblogger,” shortened to “blogger,” has an even shorter Czech form with a single “g”—“bloger.” But enough lecturing.

When I got pneumonia, they didn’t take me to the local hospital in Litoměřice, where I grew up, but to Roudnice nad Labem. I didn’t understand why—after all, I was only eight years old. I also didn’t understand why my roommate was a woman. I’ll probably never find out what kind of mix-up it was. But it had two silver linings. First, I recovered without any lasting effects, and second, I began to perceive the opposite sex more closely.
