Normally, photography is not allowed in the museum. Here, however, it’s an exception. In fact, they’ll even be happy to have you photographed with the world’s largest penis. Or with a penis shaped like a natural tree root, or next to a women’s bicycle with a male phallus in the middle of the seat. Another popular photo spot is a scene featuring a bust carved from wood, and a series of carvings depicting various types of clitorises also attracts considerable interest.

We’re talking about the Museum of Love in Prague, whose operator, Roman Szturz, reached out to Czech artists—carvers, painters, and blacksmiths. And why the clitoris, specifically? He had visited many similar institutions, but the most beautiful and interesting parts were always just the entrance halls, and sometimes the exhibition halls. Once inside, he was usually disappointed by a mix of commercial exhibits that he had already seen in previous museums.
And what about the artists? It wasn’t easy to find them. And when he did find them, many of them thought it was a joke. Thanks to the charm of his personality, he managed to convince a few, so they set to work. And it is precisely thanks to them that the Museum of Love has become exceptional, one might even say unique. Of course, you’ll also find commonly exhibited items here, but the handmade creations are attracting more and more visitors. So much so that many artifacts already have buyers.

If you visit here, you won’t regret it. Spread across two floors, features 300 works that are crafted down to the smallest details of the life we live every day. And as stated on this art museum’s website:
“In every exhibit, you can see the love, eroticism, desire, and dreams of each of us. Love has power across all age groups, cultures, and nations. Without love, one cannot live or breathe.”
The aforementioned project has not had an easy ride. Since its opening in March of this year, it has not gained sufficient traction. The blame may lie with another facility that has been introducing visitors to the history of erotic devices for years; its location on a secluded street may also seem like a mistake.
Although the museum building is located right in the heart of Prague’s historic district, tourists find their way to the Astronomical Clock and other landmarks, unfortunately, only via the nearby main street. This fact gave us pause for thought.

A solution was found. Starting in early 2017, part of the museum will serve as an erotic café, aptly named Eroticon (which is a somewhat unfortunate name, since an annual event with that name already exists in the Czech Republic conference on erotic literature and pop culture). Coffee will be served in a penis-shaped cup, desserts will be served on a plate shaped like a vagina, and instead of music, you’ll hear the sounds of animals in heat… So let’s see what surprises await us!
Where to find it:
Museum of Love, Vejvodova 6, Prague 1, open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Vyhovuje, nevyhovuje? V případě zájmu kontaktujte redakci.
Hezký den!
Jezis to je dobry! Fajn napad co dat kolegovi k Vanocum. Kolik asi stoji jeden ten obraz s klitorisem? Fakt dobry.
To je bohužel dotaz na majitele/provozovatele muzea, jen aktuálně mají nedostupné stránky, tak je otázkou jak budou dostupní.
